What Is A Process?

A process can be defined as “a series of actions or steps in order to get to a particular end (Google). In other words, a process is your playbook, which as we know with beginning any business, your playbook is life. They describe how you things, and once defined you can continue to improve them over time. The process is also said to be the glue between the assets. (Team Technology)

Important Note About Your Virtual Business:

When you start a business it is important to start with strong fundamentals: before you start offering any services you define your core values, goals,  mission, and vision statement. It is important for you to define what your business is about. But then it’s time to pour the foundation, which are your processes, because if you were going to build a house, it would fall apart without a solid foundation.

If you are starting your virtual assistant business, I am sure you have already read, 10 Virtual Assistant jobs you can start today, you first pick out the services that you are going to be offering, while you may already know how to do them, it is still important to define them.

Why Should I Define the Services For My Virtual Business?

It’s important to define them because they streamline your process. Once you define the process, you can break it down into tasks to set achievable goals, either in a notebook or project management system.

The bonus of defining your processes: It enables you to have clear communication of goals with your client.

– You know the timelines.

This is crucial in being able to set deadlines with your clients. When you define your process, you know how long it takes to do X, Y, Z services before the project even begins so you can make sure that the client knows how long it should take from the beginning, so they know what to expect, and if there are any hiccups that make it take longer, it will be easier to explain because you have the processes already defined.

⁃ You have something to refer back to.

When your virtual business begins to pick up, you may also pick up more service lines, and if you define each service as you decide to offer them, you have something to go back to if you forget every step, like publishing a podcast episode, proper YouTube SEO, or even content management.

⁃ It ensures a finished product every time.

If you have the steps of your process defined, and you follow them, it allows you to make minimal mistakes, making sure you follow every step that you yourself have defined since the beginning of your virtual business.

Final Thoughts:

As Maren Morris would say: “If the bones are good, the rest don’t matter,” and such can be said when starting your virtual assistant business. If you start with a solid foundation and define your processes, it gives you little room for error and helps you streamline your services, enabling you to get work done quickly and efficiently. To rise above their competition, businesses must be prepared to improve their processes on a continuous basis.
