Let’s face it… We’ve all made mistakes, and these are big ones! Don’t let common mistakes keep you from reaching your big dreams or goals! Now let’s dive in to discuss the 3 common mistakes most career women make.
Not Asking For Help
The most common mistake women make is not asking for help. We think that we might be seen as weak or like we don’t belong if we ask for help. But the truth is, you don’t have to be a one-man show. There is a big difference between knowing to do all the things and doing all the things. If you’re focusing all of your time and effort on trying to show everyone you can do everything and that you “belong” you might be missing out on opportunities to really showcase your talents and strengths. I am a DIY Queen, but what I’ve learned throughout the years is that asking for help or mentorship is a sign of strength, not weakness. I get help from my employees, my business partner, and my business coach. So don’t be afraid to ask for help or guidance.
Only Thinking About The Next Move
This next one is an easy one to get stuck on… As career women or entrepreneurs we tend to have tunnel vision and only think about the next big thing coming up. But what about your future? Your next move is great – for now. But what about in the next 3 years, 5 years, or even 20 years? Your next move is probably not the only thing you want to accomplish in your lifetime, right? Is there a Job Title you’ve had your eye on? Or maybe you’d really like to launch that course one day. When you focus on what your long-term goals are, it will actually help make sure your short-term goals are aligned and you’re heading in the right direction. Maybe that job opportunity you’re looking at sounds great and pays well. But is it going to help you reach those long-term goals?
Not Dreaming Big Enough
This one is a tough pill to swallow. So many women are not dreaming big enough. So many of my friends, students, and even myself from time to time struggle with this. We could be the most successful and accomplished women in the room, yet we lack the confidence to shout it from the rooftops. “Oh, I don’t think I qualify for that job or that pay rate.” Why not? Why not you? If it’s not you, then who is it going to go to? Probably someone with less experience but can confidently ask for what they want. As career women, we have to get past the imposter syndrome. You are amazing, wonderful, and capable. Remember that! We have to get past these mindset blocks and start thinking about more long-term goals.
Don’t get trapped in mediocrity because of these mistakes or because you don’t feel like you’re enough. YOU ARE ENOUGH. You are more than enough! If this is something you’re currently struggling with, let’s work together to help you move past it. Learn how we can work together here.
